Looking back on the thrilling 2017-2018 season, Olympique de Marseille approached, matched and eventually shattered numerous Club records.
77 points for a 4th place finisher in Ligue 1
OM finished the 2017-2018 season fourth in the standings with 77 points. Fourth in the French league 188bet had never accumulated so many points in the final standings. In comparison, Marseille needed just 78 points to be crowned champion of France in 2010. Only one point more than the total gleaned in the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
5 defeats in Ligue 1 Conforama, A 21st Century record
OM lost justfive times in Ligue 1 in the 2017-2018 season. Rudi Garcia's side lost to Monaco, Rennes, Lyon (× 2) and Paris. Marseille therefore equaled its lowest number of defeats in a season in the 21st century. In 2008-2009, OM also lost five games in the French championship under Eric Gerets.
80 goals in Ligue 1 Conforama!
The OM bulged the nets 80 times in the 2017-2018 season in Ligue 1. It was the best Marseille performance in nearly 50 years. We must go back to the 1970-1971 season to see that many goals scored by the Phoceans. Trained successively by Mario Zatelli and Lucien Leduc, Marseille scored 94 goals and were crowned champion of France.
10 AWAY wins
OM won 10 trips in Ligue 1 188bet during the 2017-2018 season. Including wins in Nantes, Amiens, Nice, Lille, Metz, Rennes, Caen, Toulouse, Dijon and Troyes. In the last 40 seasons, the club has done better just twice. Les Marseillais won 12 away games in the 2008-2009 season and 11 games in the 1991-1992 season.
In the draw against Nantes (1-1) on Matchday 28 of Ligue 1 on 4 March 2018, OM posted a record possession rate of 79.4%. The club has not done better since Opta analyzed the championship of France (2006).
